Description

A quickie at the end of the season
Messier 51, NGC 5194 The Whirlpool galaxy and it’s closest friend in space NGC 5195 lies in the constellation Canes Venatici, The Hunting Dogs in a distance of 31 million lightyears away.It is actually fairly bright and possible to si with a pair of binoculars under dark skies. At the end of the astrophotographical season at 60°N, nights are getting shorter and imaging time is limited.
I got less than 3 hrs on this target last weekend.
I am also very glad I found a way in PI to bring out colors in the object and it seems to me that  I can make it without a broadband filter.
